It is easy for importers of vehicle and industrial lead-acid batteries to join the producer responsibility organisation of Akkukierrätys Pb Oy by means of a producer agreement transferring producer responsibility. The company treats all producers equally, and all agreements made with producers have identical terms. Already more than 400 importers of lead-acid batteries and devices or vehicles containing lead-acid batteries have transferred their producer responsibility to Akkukierrätys Pb Oy!
Once the producer responsibility transfer agreement has been signed, all producer responsibility obligations of the company are transferred to Akkukierrätys Pb Oy. After this, the importer only needs to report the quantities of batteries imported regularly to Akkukierrätys.
The joining fee for Akkukierrätys’ producer responsibility system is a maximum of EUR 200 + VAT. More information on fees can be found here.
A member company can be confident that Akkukierrätys Pb Oy will take care of all producer responsibility obligations in accordance with the Waste Act, cost-effectively and with high quality.
As a member, you will also be visible in the Waste Management Compass
The information of Akkukierrätys members is automatically transferred to the Waste Management Compass (Jätehuoltokompassi). It is a service maintained by the Finnish Environment Institute that improves access to information on operators registered in waste management registers. Anyone can use the Waste Management Compass to check whether a company has fulfilled its producer responsibility obligations. Go to the Waste Management Compass.
Producer responsibility for batteries other than lead-acid batteries
If you also import batteries other than lead-acid batteries (excluding electric vehicle batteries), you can manage their producer responsibility by completing the enclosed power of attorney. Akkukierrätys Pb Oy and Recser Oy have drawn up an agency agreement that enables the producer responsibility for batteries and accumulators under Recser’s (Paristokierrätys) responsibility to be handled via a power of attorney. Akkukierrätys forwards the recycling fees and information related to the batteries and accumulators under Recser’s responsibility to Recser.
